Dr
Sanders was born in England and educated at Oxford University where
he obtained a physiology degree. His medical and radiology training
were at Oxford Clinical Medical school. In 1970 he went to Johns Hopkins
Hospital Baltimore on a one-year instructorship. A diagnostic ultrasound

and by 1973 devoted himself full time to ultrasound. He rose through
the ranks to become professor of radiology urology and obstetric and
gynecology at Johns Hopkins and director of ultrasound. In 1990 he
left Johns Hopkins and founded the Ultrasound Institute of Baltimore
‚ a private clinic that sees referral ultrasound cases. At the same
time he became Clinical professor of radiology and obstetrics and
gynecology at University of Maryland. He is currently Research professor
at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. He is involved in
world health organization sponsored scheme run through Thomas Jefferson
to set up ultrasound teaching centers throughout the world. He is
